No German competes in the first World Cup competition in the Dolomites. Actually, Kira Weidle would have wanted to drive the Super-G as the first part of the station wagon for training purposes and skip the slalom because of her hand that was operated on before Christmas. Because the program in Cortina was changed due to weather reasons and the slalom is already due in the morning, she cannot even start. In the fight for gold, a first exchange of blows is expected between Olympic champion Michelle Gisin, world champion Wendy Holdener (both Switzerland), Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) and Petra Vlhova (Slovakia).

However, the ice track will only be used on Monday by the skeleton athletes who are doing their first training runs. Germany has two defending champions in Tina Hermann and Christopher Grotheer.
