Fan Remake Authors Tomb Raider 2 entitled Tomb Raider: The Dagger of Xian continue to work on the project. The developers have published an update 1.2 the demo version, which added a photo mode, fixed various bugs, added new volumetric lighting, new water rendering and other improvements.

- New water simulation rendering (can be turned off in graphics settings)
- New volumetric lighting (can be turned off in the graphics settings), it should also brighten some interior rooms a little
- Lifting ridges should be more visible with some white spots (can be adjusted or disabled in game settings)
- A new alternate outfit has been added to the rewards menu (to play with it, simply select it from the outfit menu before starting a new game)
- Added more character models to the rewards menu
- New fish models that react to player movements
- New models of dead bodies
- Minor animation improvements for Lara
- Lara’s body shape correction
- More interaction with foliage, especially in caves and underwater
- Improved the animation of the crow in the first cutscene

Tomb Raider: The Dagger of Xian is a fan-made remake of the original Tomb Raider 2, developed by Core Design in 1997. The project is created on Unreal Engine 4 by a fan of the game Nicobass. The Great Wall demo was released on August 31, 2017.
Nicobass unveiled his project on the Tomb Raider forums on March 22, 2016. There, he announced that he had been working on the project for a year and a half, plus the initial study of the Unreal Engine. At first he hoped to release a game version in September / October of the same year, but it took longer.
