On Wednesday, Peter Pacult gave his Violette a day off. Take a deep breath before coaches and professionals from Austria Klagenfurt focus on the quarter-finals of the ÖFB Cup at the fourth place in the Bundesliga and LASK, who took part in the Europa League. In the interview, the 61-year-old head coach looks back on his start in Waidmannsdorf and the tasks ahead.
What is your conclusion after the winter preparations?
Peter Pacult: It is too early to come to a conclusion because the preparation has not yet been completed. This also includes the cup match at LASK. First and foremost for us is the championship, which starts on February 13th at SV Horn.
Then do you see the cup quarter-finals as a friendly?
No, it’s a bonus game for us that the team has earned with good performances in the cup. I’m really excited to see how we will do tactically and playfully against such a strong opponent.
How do you rate the chances?
LASK is one of the top teams in the country and is a clear favorite. But we’re not that bad either and it’s a knockout game, anything is always possible. We’re definitely not going to Linz to admire our opponents.
What do you expect from your team?
That she believes in her chance, acts aggressively and plays courageously. Then let’s see what comes out in the end.
You’ve been working with the boys for around four weeks. What was your impression of the team?
We worked hard in January, trained very intensively. The boys did a good job, the appearances in the friendly matches were okay. I am satisfied with that. It will be important that we always appear as a team and get the best out of ourselves in every match. (A. Klagenfurt)
