With their blood they give hope: They defeat COVID, create anticu

SUPPORTED BY YOUR COMPANIONS

My roommates, Lorena and Luz Elena Ávalos, were excellent people, they were supporting me throughout my quarantine, I had no one else in Mexico City, only my roommates and they were there to support me in everything, in the confinement, in the uncertainty, in the anxiety of being between four walls …

At first I thought that because I was asymptomatic I was not going to generate the antibodies, that was what was said. Then, a while ago I signed up for the Plasmando Vidas page.

And soon after, they told me about a person who was from Ensenada, who was residing here, who did not know anyone and that the wife was very overwhelmed because no one wanted to help her …

He was hospitalized in Monterrey, two of my relatives and I, who had been positive for COVID, decided to take a trip together to get tested.

After the blood tests they told me that I had a good amount of antibodies to be a donor.

The next day I go back to Monterrey to make my first plasma donation.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting the person.

He was a gentleman. He was intubated. And I understand that he was in his 50s and so was the wife.

They were alone here, they had no other family.

And they were the parents of a 12-year-old daughter.

It was on November 29, 2020 when I donated to the Lord.

A LIFE THAT IS GOING

I was going to donate a third time, just yesterday …

I marked the person’s daughter, who was already on her way, and she said, “my dad just passed away, we no longer need donors.”

I was going to donate to the General Hospital.

It was for the father of a girl my age, I did not know her personally, but I put myself in her shoes and I thought that the man could have been my father, that I could have been in her place.

Upon hearing the news, I felt a lot of disappointment and pain.

It felt like it was my thing. But because he already had the attitude and the intention to donate and do good work.

And that they give you news like that, you say: “COVID, keep doing its thing.”

I feel like I can continue to help more with this.

It is a hope in the abyss that relatives are living to have a serious loved one.

When someone already needs plasma it is because they are in a serious situation or they are having a very bad time in the hospital, intubated, without much hope …

I tell people: “look at the good and think that tomorrow you may be the ones who need plasma for yourself or for a family member.”

For now, as long as I have antibodies I am going to donate, she says convinced.
