Premier League Criticism in England
Gareth Bale is under fire in England due to the poor season he is having with Tottenham.
The Welshman has struggled to convince Jose Mourinho since his arrival from Real Madrid, with just six Premier League appearances and one goal to his name this season.
Now, he is coming in for some serious questioning from the press for his lacklustre displays and his failure to have an impact.
“By his standards, the loan signing of Bale has been an expensive and humiliating bust. Upwards of 10 million pounds (11.4m euros) in wages for a bloke to sit on the bench most of the season doesn’t seem like much of a bargain to me. Now, things have switched and Bale’s presence has become a source of rancour rather than a force for unity,” wrote Oliver Holt in the Daily Mail.
The well-known columnist also criticised the Welshman’s body language and feels that Mourinho has lost the dressing room.
The Portuguese coach has not managed to get performances out of Bale since his return, and it appears ever more likely that he will return to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
