Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Long Covid-19 so a new phenomenon after the patient was declared cured of Covid-19. There are a number of conditions that put a person at risk of experiencing long Covid-19 symptoms.
Doctor Adam Prabata explained that until now there is no definite definition of long Covid-19.
“A study says long Covid-19 occurs when there are still symptoms after one month. The CDC says long Covid-19 is a long-term consequence for Covid-19 survivors. Until now there has been no agreement on that,” Adam said in the @covidsurvivor talk. id, Friday (5/2).
The cause of long Covid-19 is also currently unknown. The provisional hypothesis is that it is suspected that Covid-19 has an effect on tissues or organs in the body so that it requires a longer recovery time even though the virus is no longer there.
The symptoms that appear in long Covid-19 also vary. At most or about 60 percent feel tired. Some also felt coughing, heart palpitations, loss of smell, headaches and hair loss.
“The symptoms that appear are very diverse. Research in each country also varies because it involves organ systems,” said Adam.
Everyone who experiences Covid-19 is at risk of experiencing long Covid-19 after recovering. However, according to Adam, a number of conditions can increase the risk of long Covid-19.
The following conditions increase the risk of experiencing long Covid-19.
1. Have more than five symptoms of Covid-19 during the first week of infection
2. Has severe symptoms
3. Older age
4. Have a greater body mass index or obesity.
5. Need oxygen help
Studies suggest that long Covid-19 symptoms will gradually decrease. However, Adam suggested that long Covid-19 patients still have to be handled holistically by examining a doctor.
