Jermaine Jenas has said on BBC Radio 5’s daily live soccer podcast that Tottenham’s recent struggles are definitely due to José Mourinho.

The London side have lost each of their last three league games, and while it could be attributed to a tough streak of matches or a growing injury list, Jenas believes he is in Mourinho.

“I’ve been on teams like that where you’re a bit lost and it’s up to the coach, there’s no question about that,” Jenas said.

“Whatever he is doing with this group of players and whatever fear he has instilled in this group of players is there for all to see, it is clear that everything he has done to them in the last two or three months, the fruits they are on the field and I see players who simply do not have a way of playing, and it is far from that.

It’s hard to disagree after seeing the way Spurs played Chelsea earlier this week, but questioning Mourinho right now seems a bit harsh.

It doesn’t feature Harry Kane, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso, and two of its three consecutive losses have been against Liverpool and Chelsea, two teams that are never easy to beat.

Mourinho needs the Spurs to get back on the winning track, and we know he is capable of getting them to play well again. After all, this is the same team that demolished Manchester United 6-1 earlier this season.

Things seem bleak at the moment, but it may be too early to blame the manager.
