The artistic legacy of the jurist Arturo Martínez

Lawyer Arturo Martínez had two passions: law and painting. Recognized professional in the field of Law, in his spare time he gave free rein to his mastery of brushes, a hobby that led him to capture numerous Asturian landscapes, but also portraits and still lifes.

Martínez died eighteen years ago but never exhibited his work while he was alive. Yesterday, his family, aware of the importance of his paintings and proud of them, inaugurated an exhibition with part of his artistic legacy in the BBVA art room. Behind his organization, his widow and his six children, among them the former dean of the Oviedo Courts, Pilar Martínez Ceyanes.

Until February 26, people from Oviedo will be able to enjoy the exhibition, in which there is no shortage of oil paintings “on the Asturian mountain, the typical Somiedo houses”, as well as landscapes of the Arán Valley. The visiting hours of the art room are from Monday to Saturday, from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Sundays, from 12 to 2 p.m.

Martínez Ceyanes, yesterday, very happy after making this exhibition a reality, pointed out that a work by her father is also exhibited at the Bar Association. Another pride.
