– The Myanmar military regime, which caused the coup, blocked Facebook on the 3rd and blocked access to Twitter and Instagram on the night of the 5th. This is to prevent resistance movements that spread through SNS.
In major cities in Myanmar, such as Yangon, from the night of the 2nd, they started to protest the military government by knocking on pots or sounding vehicle horns. As such videos and photos spread throughout the world as well as Myanmar through Facebook, the military government stopped it.
The voices of protest against the coup are getting louder. Local media reported that the’Myanmar Civil Disobedience Movement’ side announced that protest movements took place in 91 national hospitals, 18 universities and 12 government agencies across Myanmar.
At Yangon National University and Dagon University in Yangon, about 200 people each gathered on campus. Students as well as professors joined the protest movement simultaneously in college.
Government officials in the capital Naepido are contributing to this trend. Officials are joining the coup protest by wearing a red ribbon symbolizing the political party led by the Shame torture and giving a’three-finger salute’ to symbolize resistance.
