This type of digital violence is precisely what seeks to punish Olympia Law.

In addition, Nath highlights that, although she asked him to delete the videos in which she appears, she knows that she did not do so because other women contacted her to tell her that they knew the images.

“I don’t know if right now everything has come to light, out of fear he said ‘I’m going to erase everything’ but I don’t know how much longer it was; I only know that he did not erase it and that is what makes me very angry because I still believed him at the time and he could have exposed me in an incredible way but I didn’t even consider it and believing him ”, he says.

Torn apart

These two cases in turn inspired Diana Estrada to tell their story.

“I felt that I was not alone, that I was not the only one and I had to speak,” she explains.

Diana woke up after attending a party hosted by YouTube without remembering what had happened the day before, but with a strong pain in the vagina, which was torn. When she went to the doctor they told her that it was likely that several people had sexually abused her, however, they also blamed her for getting drunk.

“To date, in social networks I say ‘nothing happens, I’m over it.’ And in a certain way, yes, but the fact of feeling guilty is something that I cannot completely remove ”, he shares.

“After I uploaded the video, many women have helped me and gave me strength. It’s not that I start crying and suffer because I’ve already been through that, but I can’t help but feel guilty because I feel that if I hadn’t drank on that occasion, what happened to me would not have happened to me. I feel like it was my fault, even though I know I shouldn’t think about it. It is a feeling that I cannot avoid ”, expresses.

The stories of Diana, Nath and Ixpanea are not isolated; to them are added other names such as Lizbeth Rodriguez Y air Santaolalla, YouTubers who have also suffered some type of gender violence or sexual abuse.

“It is something very common but unfortunately on YouTube it is more common than it seems. Some youtubers, already grown up, are very profitable, they take advantage of what women we drink. Besides that it is very normalized among themselves, even among them they applaud ”, considers Estrada.

“I think that is how we have been raised all our lives; For example, since we are little, women are taught to drink with measure because something can happen to us and men to drink and that there is no problem. That comes from much further back, it is not that they are the problem but that since we were children we have normalized this type of situation ”.

Guilt or being singled out for having drunk is also something that several have experienced.

Nath relates in his video that he left the club and drank so much that he couldn’t remember some things; what she does have in mind is Rix abusing her while she slept. “I couldn’t move my arms, my legs, I don’t know if I was in shock, very drunk, I don’t know what was happening, to date I don’t know what happened to my body, I just know what happened.”

From YouTube to the courts

Nath not only denounced what happened in a video, he also did it before the Public ministry. In fact, in his testimony he presented the complaint document, so there is already an investigation folder.

“My lawyer told me that when you do something in the media, they push the trials and they don’t take the cases very seriously or they go the other way. As the person to whom I am reporting has a family in politics, it is something more delicate, it is not like I can proceed, ”says the youtuber.

“Right now we are in a pandemic, the trials are closed, it will take time, it is a long process but it is going to be done and it is being done; It’s not like the joke was just saying it and that’s it ”.
