Over 28 million euros have been invested in the 12,000 m2 new building, which now offers highly attractive and modern workplaces for a total of 450 employees from 16 nations. The four business units BMW Austria GmbH, BMW Financial Services, Alphabet Austria Fuhrparkmanagement GmbH and BMW Vertriebs GmbH are represented under one roof at the BMW Group location in Salzburg. In addition, the Central and Southeastern Europe region, which stretches from the Baltic Sea to the eastern Mediterranean, is controlled from Salzburg.
Governor Dr. Wilfried Haslauer emphasizes the BMW Group’s remarkable commitment to Salzburg
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Governor Dr. Wilfried Haslauer and the Mayor of Salzburg, Harald Preuner, send their congratulations as a digital greeting. “We are very happy that we have strong and innovative leading companies like the BMW Group in Salzburg, which have been very consciously committed to the region for decades. The opening of the new Salzburg campus in the midst of the corona pandemic gives me hope that we will master the current tense situation together and that the business location Salzburg will be sustainably strengthened, “said Governor Dr. Wilfried Haslauer on the occasion of the opening. Neil Fiorentinos, Managing Director of BMW Vertriebs GmbH, said: “The BMW Group site in Salzburg is a fixture in the region. With the new building, we are opening the next chapter in the success story. The Salzburg campus is a logical consequence of the outstanding work of the past decades. In 1977, starting in Salzburg, we sold just over 6,000 BMWs in Austria. In the past year, we sold over 73,500 automobiles in 12 countries from here, generating sales of over 3.2 billion euros. With the new building, we offer our employees modern and highly attractive workplaces. In this way we will continue to promote innovations and further secure the future viability of the location. ”
Ultra-modern working environments at the new BMW Group Campus Salzburg
The new, innovative working environments on the Salzburg campus with a total area of over 12,000 m2 offer more than 20 percent more space than before with light-flooded offices on an area of 4,774 m2. The number of meeting rooms has more than doubled to 26. At 814 m2, the canteen is also twice as large as before. A highlight is the access to a spacious roof terrace. A green inner courtyard serves as a central meeting place. A multi-storey car park with generously sized parking spaces is being built right next to the new office building.
Modern training center for 12 countries in the Central and Southeastern Europe region according to the latest BMW standards
With an area of 2,675 m2, the new training center is more than six times the size of the previous training area. This also increases its capacity: instead of the previous 40 people, up to 150 participants can now be trained per day. The equipment corresponds to the latest state of the art. In addition to traditional on-site training, digital learning is becoming increasingly important. With ‘blended learning’, personal on-site training and virtual course content complement each other and thus ensure optimal learning success. In addition to the employees of the BMW Group, technicians, service employees, salespeople and managers of the dealer partners in all twelve markets in the Central and Southeastern Europe region will also benefit from the new opportunities.
Investments in the sustainability of the location
With over 500,000 electrified vehicles, the BMW Group is one of the leading providers in the field of electromobility worldwide. In Europe, it is estimated that half of all BMW vehicles sold will be electrified by 2030. As a result, there will also be 150 e-charging options on the new BMW Group Campus Salzburg.
A third of the energy comes from the roof! A photovoltaic system was installed on the new campus for this purpose. This covers a good third of the campus’ total electricity consumption. The CO2 savings that can be realized from this amount to 232 tons per year.
In addition, a water recovery system was installed as part of the renovation of the in-house washing system. Up to now, 180 liters of drinking water were required to wash a vehicle – with the water treatment system, only 20-30 liters of drinking water are now required for each new wash – that is a saving of no less than 85%. This is made possible by an innovative solution that allows all waste water to be reused when washing cars.
The BMW Group’s commitment – good for Austria
