In its latest study, IDC highlights the health excellence of the iPad in the last quarter of 2020. In fact, in the tablet segment, Apple would come out on top with 19 million iPads sold (36.5% market share and an increase of 19.5% over one year). Overall, the market would have recorded 52.2 million sales, also an increase of 19.5% in one year.
Samsung would be placed just behind Apple with 10.1 million tablets. We note an impressive progression of Lenovo (+ 120.6%) and an impressive drop in Huawei with -25.7%. Finally over the full year, Apple also retains the lead with 53.2 million iPads and a share of 32.5%, up slightly from 6.7%.
Remember that during the last financial results, Apple has officially confirmed very successful quarters for its tablets, building on its momentum with a further increase, showing 8.435 billion dollars (+ 41.12% compared to 5.977 billion in 2020!). These figures can be explained by the specific context of the confinement, between home work and home schooling.
