A word from the director – MJC de Villeurbanne

Between health situation, news from the Culture, Activities and Youth poles, General Assembly of February 26 and future associative project, Marc BERNARD – director of the MJC – gives you news and takes stock of the activity of the house:

Dear members, dear members,

The entire MJC team, the Board of Directors, the employees, the animators and the volunteers wanted to hear from you, and give it to you.

How’s the house? Like you, it’s a bit difficult. This year is hard, this season is complicated with every week announcements which make us make big gaps.

But in spite of everything, because it is the essence of the house, we have tried since September to maintain the link with you, as best we can.

Of course, some workshops were able to continue with live or deferred visios, we continued to open Wednesday afternoons to welcome your children, and there, on the eve of the holidays, we will still be able to do so every day. Despite everything, we do not have a normal activity. The bar is closed, reception hours are reduced, and especially adult activities are prohibited in all establishments like ours. At LA Balise 46, there too we were unable to welcome all audiences for live shows, film debates or gesticulated conferences.

Despite everything, yesterday and today, we were able to put on a show for young audiences in the surrounding schools, and I can tell you that it was really joy, both at the level of the artistic teams and at the level of the children who welcomed this show with light in the eyes.

The situation is complicated, we do not hide it from you. We have tried to do everything possible to take into consideration that you are having a difficult year. Despite everything, we must also be concerned about maintaining this fragile balance for the house. And for that, to imagine the future, we could say, co-responsible.

We wish to remain standing to continue to offer you all these activities. We also know that you were very kind enough to participate in our Great Harvest to build the 2021-2026 project of the MJC. On February 26, our General Assembly will take place, and we will quickly give you the modalities to be able to vote, participate and consult the reports posted on our site. You have one more week if you want to join us on the Board of Directors and submit your application!

Very quickly, we will communicate to you everything we could imagine so that we can also take into account the effort you have made. And if you are watching us right now, it is because you are still a member, and we thank you for your support and understanding. Of course we would have liked to be able to do more this year, but it was not possible.

We had to put in place a fairly strict sanitary protocol to be able to remain open, because many structures that did not have it in place were closed by checks, which are more and more frequent.

Very quickly, we will get back to you to tell you how this year will end, but what we can tell you now is that we are trying to prepare for next season, that we hope a lot richer, in encounters, in discoveries, with shared, convivial moments of live performance, so that young people can start sports again, and that adults can also resume all their artistic and cultural activities.

We are counting on you ! As I told you, we are jointly responsible for our future. So together, will we be together, and see you soon!

thank you,

Marc BERNARD – Director of the MJC
