A motion has been submitted to the Veneto regional council regarding the new food safety plan conceived by the European Commission which places meats, salami and wines as potentially dangerous products for health.
The petition was advanced by the regional councilor Tommaso Razzolini of the council group Fratelli d’Italia – Giorgia Meloni, together with colleagues Speranzon, Polato, Soranzo and Formaggio.
“The new food plan of the European Commission – declares the councilor Razzolini – represents a provocation for the Made in Italy that affects three excellences of our excellences known all over the world. The agri-food industry in Italy has a turnover of over 188 billion euro, of which 37 billion derived from exports, with 1.5 million businesses and 1.4 million employees. The food plan raises many concerns for the entire sector “.
“If it is true that the Mediterranean diet, recognized ten years ago by Unesco as an intangible heritage of humanity – represents the flagship of Italy – says the councilor of the Brothers of Italy – and allowed us to conquer the European record of longevity, the new food plan of the European Commission represents a real attack on Italian agri-food excellence”.
“We ask the regional council – concludes Razzolini – to take all the necessary actions to protect our supply chain and its wonderful products, such as meats, salami and wines, from wicked choices and smear campaigns undertaken by the European Commission. Even providing alarm labels on bottles as well as cigarette packets is an offense to our culture”.
