In the El Cirer Social Room 37 people donated blood, in the recruitment made yesterday by the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community. It was the third blood collection of 2021 in La Nucía, in which there were 6 new donors. The next blood donation will be on Thursday, February 25 in the afternoon, also at the El Cirer Social Room.
The Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community moved yesterday, Thursday, February 4, to the El Cirer Social Room, thanks to the transfer of this space free of charge by the City Council of La Nucía. During the “COVID-19 pandemic”, blood donations in La Nucía have not decreased, but have increased in a remarkable way, demonstrating the “great solidarity of the Nucia”, where there are more and more donors.

Yesterday the nucieras and nucieras showed their solidarity once again by donating blood at the El Cirer Social Room. This third blood collection in 2021 had 37 donors presented, of which 31 were eligible for blood donation. But the most important fact is that there were 6 new donors, who participated for the first time in a blood donation, joining the solidarity chain of “donate blood and save 3 lives.”
The campaign of the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community “Donate Blood, Save 3 Lives” and #HazteDonanter #ComparteVida, reinforced by the City Council of La Nucía, is bearing fruit and penetrating the Nucie society. Currently La Nucía has an average of more than 40 donations per month, when before the pandemic the average was 30 donations.
Blood needed
The province of Alicante needs 250 donations daily, which is what the hospitals of our province use globally each day for operations, cancer treatments, transfusions, etc. so any help is little. It must be remembered that “blood cannot be manufactured” and that the only way to obtain it is through “solidarity, voluntary and altruistic donation”.
Requirements
The general requirements to donate blood is to be over 18 years old and under 65 years old and weigh more than 50 kilos. It is essential to drink abundantly and eat before donating blood and you can donate, even if you have high cholesterol. Each adult can donate blood 4 times a year in the case of men and 3 times in the case of women.
To donate blood it is not necessary to pre-register, so new donors can go directly to the next recruitment in La Nucía, which will be on Thursday, February 25, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the El Cirer Social Room.
