Chennai: Dom Sibley and captain Joe Root, who lost two wickets in the first session but kept England at bay without falling into great danger. Sibley and Root are half a century behind.
Sibley (55 off 189 balls with seven fours) and Root (53 off 114 balls with six fours) are currently at the crease. England are currently at 157 for two in 60 overs.
Before leaving for lunch in the first Test, Burns and Lawrence were sent off, signaling India’s resumption of play. But Sibley and Root, who reached the crease after lunch, kept the Indian bowlers at bay.
R Ashwin and Boomera took the wickets. Kohli is mainly using Ashwin to attack the bowling attack. As England reached the 60th over of the innings, Kohli had so far bowled the ball into the hands of Washington Sunder for just 5 overs.
Burns and Lawrence returned with a score of 63 for England. Dhaka was the third batsman to bat for England in 5 balls. Lawrence is a player who plays well against spin. Realizing this, Kohli brought Boomera under attack.
Lawrence’s attempt was to fumble over the delivery, which was pitched around Boomera’s off. But the ball landed on the backpad. England’s second wicket fell to Chepauk when the umpire called out.
