The New Orleans Saints playoff game against the Chicago Bears on January 10th was a special one. For the first time there was a lot shown on children’s channel Nickelodeon, parallel to the transfer at the rights holder CBS, the parent network of Nickelodeon.

The intention was clear: football should be brought closer to the youth.
Because the NFL has a problem. Even in the US sports leagues, which is still the largest in terms of audience numbers and sales, there is a negative trend in audience ratings. Audience ratings are falling
The NFL final in the USA achieved record ratings almost every year; in 2015, around 114 million people tuned in on average – more than ever before. Since then, the numbers have been declining almost every year: In 2020 there were »only« around 100 million people.
