American actor Will Smith is in Namibia to shoot the second season of the documentary series National Geographic One Strange Rock, in which the popular actor acts as presenter. According to local press reports, the actor landed on Tuesday at the airport Hosea Kutako, the country’s capital, Windhoek. In Namibia he will spend about ten days visiting different iconic places of the desert African nation, according to the local newspaper TheNamibian .
Produced by director Darren Aronofsky and Jane Root (Nutopia), One Strange Rock is a scientific-historical proposal about life on Earth that aired its first season in 2018. Renewal for a second season was announced that same year, but filming has not resumed so far.
The Namibian Film Commission (NFC, Namibia Film Commission) had confirmed last January that filming permits had been applied for in Namibia, but no further details of the production plan are known at this time. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, Namibia, a country of natural wealth that hosts the world’s oldest considered desert (the Namib), had canceled about twenty productions during 2020.
