The World Health Organization (WHO) is negotiating with various manufacturers of Covid-19 vaccines, including Russia, to provide them to countries in need, said Wednesday, February 3, Melita Vujnovic, the representative of the WHO in Russia.
“There are not enough doses for all countries, and it is important not to neglect those who cannot buy the vaccine,” she said on the Rossiya 24 television channel.
As a result, she explained that WHO was involved in negotiations that it leads with all countries with vaccine production capacities.
“There are negotiations with all countries, at the highest level, and we are also waiting for support from Russia and other countries to provide the vaccine to all those who need it,” concluded Melita Vujnovic.
The Lancet releases Russian vaccine data
On February 2, The Lancet published the findings of the third phase of the Sputnik V vaccine trials. Immune efficiency is estimated at 91.6%. The Russian vaccine is now waiting to be authorized in Europe. In turn, the European Medicines Agency confirmed to Sputnik the start of scientific consultations with Russia.
Melita Vujnovic for her part declared that the WHO welcomed the publication in The Lancet on the Russian vaccine against the Covid-19 Sputnik V, stressing that the article demonstrated its effectiveness.
