The video with the caption “The worst apartment in New York in history !!!” shows a single room with no bathroom, no kitchen, no freezer, just a tiny fridge and a closet.
Knowlton, who works for the Compass real estate company, told AFP that the apartment is in the West Village, but did not want to give the exact address.
“Before you ask, yes, this is a real apartment. This is what $ 1,650 can get you in the most desirable neighborhood in New York,” Knowlton explains in the video.
He then shows a shower and a toilet in the hallway, in separate rooms, which “are shared by the whole building.”

The coronavirus pandemic has led to an 11% drop in rental prices in New York, according to Rent Cafe.
Knowlton believes the apartment will rent quickly.
