Neymar had already publicly acknowledged PSG at the weekend (“I’m happy today, really happy. Things have changed a lot. (…) I’ve adapted. I’m calmer and happier. I want to stay at PSG.” ).
The Brazilian international wanted to leave PSG again in the summer of 2019, in the direction of ex-employer FC Barcelona. Exchange speculation persisted in 2020 as well.
So now apparently the change of heart!
According to Bechler, who was the first to report Neymar’s departure from Barça in 2017, the negotiations are still ongoing. However, completion could be announced this week. The contract is currently valid until 2022.
The offensive player is said to have demanded 30 million euros net per year in his new contract – and received it. He is also guaranteed that PSG will continue to fight for titles, especially in the Champions League.
Tuchel’s successor Mauricio Pochettino (48) certainly played a part in Neymar’s rethinking. The Argentine understands the mentality of the superstar, encourages and challenges him.
Neymar moved to PSG in 2017 for € 222mn and has scored 83 times in 101 competitive games for the French champions.
