In fact, combing the market we find that the most expensive signing that has been made this January does not exceed 24 million euros, and it has not been done by any of the considered ‘great world powers’, but the West Ham, a historic Permier League which currently occupies the fifth place in the English table.

Nor did they finish breaking winter bombs with big names that revolutionize soccer. The most expensive signing of that winter market has been Saïd Benrahma, a skilled winger who came to be nicknamed the ‘Algerian Messi’. The ‘hammers’ have paid for him a total of 23.1 million euros plus four in variables, and Benrahma thus becomes, also, the third most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Benrahma, in fact, was already playing for West Ham on loan form this season and the English club has finally acquired its ownership of Championship Brentford. At 25 years old, the Algerian has played 12 games this year in which he has not yet scored any goals, but has garnered three assists.
