On Monday (February 1st, 2021) the seven-day incidence – i.e. the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week – was 84.8.
The previous day the value was 83.8. The Berlin Corona traffic light is still red, as can be seen from the management report of the Senate Department for Health. The target is less than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. The traffic light is also red for the occupancy rate in the intensive care beds. Here the rate of 27.3 percent is just below the value of the previous day (28.1).

17 more deaths reported
The traffic light is still green for the reproduction number (R value). The 4-day R-value was 0.93 on Monday – just like the day before. It describes how many people an infected person infects on average. According to experts, in order to slow the pandemic, this value has to be significantly lower than 1. 455 new corona cases were reported on Monday. The day before there were 140 registered cases. According to the management report, 120 392 people in Berlin have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 106 870 are considered recovered. 2293 people died in connection with Corona, 17 more than the day before. Fewer new infections are usually registered on weekends.
