Russia selects 4 future cosmonauts

The Russian Federation announces the selection of 4 candidates for the post of cosmonauts, following a recruitment campaign initiated in June 2019.

Russian space agency Roscosmos even announced the names of the detainees. They are Sergey Irtuganov, Alexander Kolyabin, Sergey Teteryatnikov and Harutyun Kiviryan, who were selected from 2,229 applicants under the age of 35 who received higher education, mainly technical. These lucky ones will begin, very soon, general training which will take place over two years.

All applicants had to go through several stages: screening for meeting educational and vocational requirements; a series of medical examinations; and a set of measures to assess the psychological qualities of candidates.
