Kabarpolitik.com – The mass vaccination in China shows a high success rate. This is because only six out of 100,000 recipients of the Covid-19 vaccine experience mild side effects.
“Mild reactions after being vaccinated, such as flu, sore arm, and other symptoms are experienced by six people out of every 100,000 vaccine recipients,” said Chinese expert on infectious respiratory diseases, Prof. Zhong Nanshan, quoted by local media, Monday (1/2) .
In the mass vaccination program since January 2021, China has used two domestic vaccines, namely Sinopharm and Sinovac.
According to Zhong, the two vaccine products that use this method of attenuating the virus are relatively safe. He explained that both vaccines can protect a person from exposure to Covid-19, at least for a period of six months.
Zhong added that of the approximately one million vaccine recipients in China who experience side effects, only a third have a fever. He saw more and more people around the world who were vaccinated against Covid-19, so it would take at least two to three weeks for the vaccine to produce antibodies.
Zhong said that the development of the Covid-19 pandemic globally would not be certain until March 2021. “Now, on the one hand, we need to trace the type of virus, but on the other hand, we need to consider which strain of the virus to use for the vaccine,” he said.
Zhong reminded that rural areas should be the focus of prevention and control of domestic epidemics. “Unlike SARS, Covid-19 infection is sometimes asymptomatic but clearly contagious,” he said.
“So, during the Lunar New Year holidays, I advise people in the village to reduce mass gatherings and see a doctor whenever they feel unwell. Don’t wait until you get very sick, ”said Zhong.
As of Sunday (31/1), more than 24 million doses of vaccine have been injected, the Chinese Center for Contagious Diseases Control and Prevention (CCDC) said. Meanwhile, the head of the National Institute for Controlling and Prevention of Infectious Diseases under the coordination of CCDC, Xu Wenbo, said that the severe abnormal reactions due to the current Covid-19 vaccine were no higher than the influenza vaccine.
