Nashville Opens First African American Music Museum in the US

Lovers of blues, soul, jazz, hip-hop or rhythm and blues will soon have a new pilgrimage site: the “Music City”, in Nashville, in the state of Tennessee, will be the first museum dedicated to African-American music in the United States. United.

Fans will be able to learn about more than 50 musical styles. The exhibition includes details on the lives of artists such as Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Usher, Louis Armstrong, Whitney Houston and Ray Charles.

The museum spans about 900 square meters and houses more than 1,500 objects, including a wealth of memorabilia from the musicians, such as the flashy garments they wore on stage.

Links to politics, the fight for equality, and African-American music in the United States are also shown in “Music City.”

The museum is located in the heart of Nashville, the so-called “Music City,” directly on the Lower Broadway musical mile. It will be open to the public from January 30 and admission for adults will cost $ 24.95.

Tourists from certain countries will have to wait until the entry ban in force in the United States is lifted as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
