Fatal traffic accident on the A 44 autobahn closed for hours

Cologne (ots) – In a serious traffic accident on the Bundesautobahn 44 on Sunday evening (January 31) between the Aachen junction and the Aachen-Brand junction, an Algerian (37) was run over by an Opel Corsa and killed. The young family (driver 23, heavily pregnant co-driver 21, daughter 3) in the Opel remained unharmed according to previous knowledge. Rescue workers took them to a hospital for an examination, while the traffic accident recording team of the Cologne police began to collect evidence. The closure of the motorway will continue until Monday morning.

At around 6:20 p.m., Federal Police forces checked a three-person VW Golf at the Königberg rest area. The 37-year-old was also among the inmates.
