«General practitioners are the only ones who can give vaccination capillarity, also managing to reach that part of the population that has great difficulties in accessing vaccination facilities. We are ready to do our part, and for this reason it is good that the Region convenes a table as soon as possible to move on to an operational phase ».
* Luigi Sparano * (FIMMG Naples) returns to the theme of phase 2 in Campania, the one in which citizens will also be vaccinated, starting from the over 80s, and he does so underlining the maximum availability of the category of general practitioners.
“We have always been the reference point for vaccinations – he remembers – we can and must be so also in this context of crisis”. However, the need arises to coordinate and integrate the “reconnaissance” activity with the regional platforms first, then administration, carried out by general practitioners.
“There must be a precise definition of the work plan – explains * Corrado Calamaro * (FIMMG Naples) – and that all general practitioners are put in a position to respond to the right booking requests that arrive from patients”.
At this stage, the company secretaries * Ciro Cozzolino *, * Antonio Sardu * and * Pietro Di Girolamo * recall, there are many over 80s who ask us to be included in the platform to be booked, there is also an enormous effort from family doctors who are doing a great deal of patient information throughout the territories, but it is essential to define the operating methods of this work. A job that could even become counterproductive if we do not intervene quickly.
“The risk – concludes Sparano – is that suspicions and misunderstandings can be generated, putting in a bad light the extraordinary effort produced by the Region up to now and a schedule that has been slowed down only by the lack of doses to be administered”.
