MADRID, 31 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Los Angeles Lakers stormed the TD Garden this morning and won the NBA classic against Boston Celtics (95-96), a duel decided by the final error of Kemba Walker, who had the shot in his hands to achieve victory local.
With this, Frank Vogel’s men left behind two consecutive defeats to remain third in the Western Conference (15-6) with the same victories as the Utah Jazz and the Clippers, with one and two fewer losses, respectively. The Celtics, pending the extent of the injury suffered by Marcus Smart, fall for the second day in a row and are fifth in the East (10-8).
During the clash, those in purple and gold seemed to have victory on track, but the push from Jayson Tatum and a couple of errors from LeBron James brought those of Brad Stevens closer. After a loss by Anthony Davis, Boston was planted with possession and 10 seconds ahead to achieve the winning basket, but neither Walker – who finished 1 of 12 in field goals -, on the first pitch, nor Daniel Theis, on recovery, they were able to score.
Davis, with 27 points and 14 rebounds, and LeBron James, with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, led the Lakers in which the Spanish center Marc Gasol, who spent 18 minutes on the track, contributed only one point, one rebound and a ball recovery.
Finally, New Orleans Pelicans, without the Spanish Willy Hernangómez by technical decision, interrupted a series of two consecutive victories after falling to the Houston Rockets (112-126), which keeps them in the penultimate position of the Western Conference.
