On Sunday, the number of new coronavirus infections fell slightly. 1,190 new cases have been registered across Austria since Saturday, with 18 deaths reported, according to the Ministry of the Interior and Health on Sunday. The seven-day average is therefore 1,383 cases that were added daily. 7,721 people have died of or with Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. There were 14,180 confirmed active cases across Austria.
In total, 9,684 people were infected with SARS-CoV-2 in the past week. The seven-day incidence – the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days – was 108.8 on Sunday. Per 100,000 inhabitants, 86.7 people have already died of or with Covid-19. In the past seven days, there were 303 deaths. The 1,190 new infections were compared to 1,421 newly recovered patients on Sunday.

Hospital patients with coronavirus remain at a low level
The number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals continues to decline at a low level. There were a total of 1,676 sick people, six fewer than on Friday and 141 fewer than last Sunday. For the first time in days, the number of patients in intensive care units has risen again. 299 people had to be treated in intensive care units on Sunday – three more than on Saturday.

There have been 414,398 positive test results in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic. 392,497 people have recovered from an infection. Most new infections have been recorded in Vienna since Saturday with 281, which, according to the city, also includes 13 late reports from the past few days. In Lower Austria there were 208 cases. In the past 24 hours, Styria recorded 165 new infections, Tyrol 156 and Upper Austria 124. In Carinthia, 94 more infected people were added, in Salzburg 82, in Vorarlberg 54 and in Burgenland there were 26.
