For Samsung Galaxy S21 + review

We finally got our hands on the Galaxy S21 + to complete the Galaxy S21 series, and we started working on the review. But in the meantime, let’s measure it to their peers.

Before we go sideways, there is a short unboxing – you get the phone, the SIM tool and USB-C to the USB-C cable. If you want the recommended 25W charger, you have to pay 20 € extra for it.

Galaxy S21 + is a medium-sized alternative in the Galaxy S21 series. The screen is 0.5 inches larger than the Galaxy S21 and the battery is 800 mAh. We can confirm that we’ve seen fantastic battery life so far from the Galaxy S21 + – for example around 19 hours of video playback. It has a higher resolution screen than the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Another big difference between the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 + is the dual glass design of the latter. Galaxy S21 has a plastic panel, while Galaxy S21 + uses Gorilla Glass Victus at both ends – which makes a significant difference, such as using a plastic touchpad for a laptop and immediately touching a glass.

When plus is measured against ultra, we see less difference. The screen of the Galaxy S21 Ultra is 0.1 inches larger, but the panel is curved and can work with higher 1440p resolution. Ultra Panel also delivers an advanced adaptive refresh rate, which can go up to 120 Hz, but can be as low as 10 Hz, while the Galaxy S21 can only drop to 48 Hz.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra also has a versatile camera setup, but the Galaxy S21 + should be more than its own capabilities.

Early reactions to this year’s Samsung Galaxy S series are that those who get a smaller and cheaper phone will go for the Vanilla S21, while the absolute best gets the Ultra, leaving the S21 + in no man’s land.

Another way of looking at things, however, is that the Galaxy S21 + is actually a very sensible choice – it gives you all the key features you need without breaking the bank.
