Düsseldorf Sila Nanotechnologies, Solid Power or Quantumscape – battery start-ups are currently experiencing a real hype. A small announcement is enough and the price skyrockets. Her specialty: the development of more powerful, faster and cheaper batteries.
From a range of 2,000 kilometers to a million charging cycles – the new super batteries promise the solution to all problems of electric mobility. The attention is correspondingly great.
A month ago, the valuation of the US start-up Quantumscape suddenly shot to 50 billion US dollars after an announcement. The company was thus briefly worth more than the auto company Ford. A few weeks later, the valuation had fallen again by more than half. The company in which, among other things Volkswagen and Microsoft– Founder Bill Gates is researching the development of a new super battery. But like so many others, Quantumscape has neither made a dollar in sales nor a step out of the laboratory.
