GGD nevertheless switches off print function after data leak

The GGD has today disabled the printing function in its IT systems HPZone and HPZone Lite, the organization reports website. This is done to “prevent unauthorized sharing”, a spokesperson told NOS and News hour. Last night, the GGD stated that the function was necessary for the analysis of the corona virus and would therefore not be disabled.

All source and contact researchers were able to print and save BSN numbers, addresses and medical data using the print function. This sensitive data is widely traded online, RTL Nieuws reported earlier this week.

The GGD will examine next week which employees actually need the print function, said the spokesperson. They will then regain access to the position.

Definitive solution?

The GGD previously largely switched off the export function. Lists with information about tested persons could also be downloaded and forwarded.

It is still unclear whether this will disable all options for saving and sharing lists of data. The GGD writes on its website that they are still working on adjusting ‘all other export options’.
