Days go by and look the same in Houston… The soap opera DeShaun Watson is still going on within the franchise and rumors are rife. Nick Caserio, the general manager, had insisted Friday on the fact that Houston had no intention of trading Watson… the quarterback asked in the wake to be traded…
But he’s another iconic player who is said to be leaving now: J.J. Watt. The defensive lineman no longer seems sure he wants to continue his journey with the Texas franchise and could be interested in being traded.
From @GMFB Weekend: While the focus for the #Texans has been on the future of QB Deshaun Watson, they also know that star JJ Watt deserves clarity on his situation as well, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo. Watt has been the face of the franchise for the last decade…

Watt has been a member of the team since being drafted in 2011 and has been its face for 10 years. He was notably elected three times best defenseman in the league with the Texans. But soon to be 32, he wants to know if he is still in his management’s plans for his last year of contract ($ 17.5 million). This could also be seen as an opportunity for Houston to rebuild from scratch by taking advantage of Watson and Watt’s trades to glean draft rounds.
The Patriots to revive it?
One of the franchises that might be interested in Watt in any case will no doubt be the New England Patriots. The team of Bill Belichick will be on the lookout this offseason for any opportunity to strengthen his pass-rush game and Watt could be an interesting play.
As a reminder, the New England franchise has been very ineffective on this aspect of the game this year with 1.5 sacks per game and especially five players from the defensive line who will become free agents this summer. A burning situation for Bill Belichick and his management.
One thing is certain, this offseason will be very eventful for Texas…
