Seventeen New York firefighters were injured, four of them seriously, during a response to an explosion at an apartment building under construction in Harlem on Saturday morning, authorities reported.

A fire broke out at 7:30 a.m. local time on the first floor of the building, located on 115th Street. The flames then quickly spread to the top of the building.
About 200 firefighters intervened on the spot, for several hours.
The situation was finally brought under control. Four firefighters were seriously injured, but their lives are not in danger.
