Japanese wife hides mother’s body for ten years in freezer | Abroad

Yumi Yoshino was arrested Wednesday after the body was discovered. She lived in the apartment with her mother. The mother was around 60 years old when she died, The Guardian reports, and her name was on the lease.

Yoshino was evicted from the apartment in mid-January after failing to pay the rent several times. A cleaner discovered the body in the freezer.

An autopsy did not clarify the time and cause of death. Yoshino is suspected of “hiding and leaving a body.”
