A terrible mourning shakes the world of business and fashion: Giorgia Martone, 41, died the day before yesterday during an operation which should have lasted only a quarter of an hour at the San Giuseppe Hospital in Milan. Daughter of Roberto, the founder of the Icr colossus, Industrie Cosmetiche Riunite of Lodi, she suddenly passed away after only a few minutes under the knife: a shock that happens very rarely and that instead hit the young fragrance expert. “We can’t believe it, it all happened suddenly, even the medical team is dismayed,” his sister Ambra, very close to Giorgia, tells the Corriere, so much so that friends considered them almost twins.

Creative in the family business
Giorgia he worked within the historic family business, among the most important in Italy according to the latest Forbes ranking, and was a researcher in the field of perfumery. His, compared to that of his sister Ambra, with whom he worked side by side, was a role more of creativity and inventiveness. Giorgia also held the role of director of the ICR. Graduated from Bocconi in Milan with a specialization in Design & Fashion Management, immediately after graduation she decided to undertake an experience in the United States with an apprenticeship in “Raw Materials, History of Perfume and Fragrances” in the multinational Symrise e in 2005 she returned to Italy, in Lodi, to join his father, Roberto. For years the company has been alongside the most important Italian stylists, such as Gianni Versace, Nazareno Gabrielli, Nicola Trussardi, Renato Balestra, Romeo Gigli and for them has created some of the best-selling perfumes in Italy. In 2013, his father Roberto, who succeeded the founder Vincenzo, had transformed a part of the former perfume factory in the Via Savona area into a luxury hotel, the Magna Pars Hotel. Third generation of the perfume dynasty, Giorgia and Ambra had successfully entered the family business a few years ago: together they had given birth to the production LabSolue – Perfume Laboratory, the label created by four hands in which fragrances for the person and the environment are enclosed in bottles with a contemporary design. Passionate about her work, Giorgia had also written a book, “The grammar of perfumes” (published by Gribaudo) in which she revealed all the secrets of fragrances.

The funeral and the memory of his sister
«Giorgia was very afraid of operations and needles, the fact of anesthesia did not leave her alone, but she had nevertheless faced this operation with force, which was banal, but which she could not avoid. Two years ago she had an operation for the same thing, and everything went well », says her sister Ambra. Single and without children, Giorgia Martone is remembered by everyone as one young woman sunny and full of life, with a full social life and many people who loved her. Today they will take place the funeral at the Basilica of Santa Maria della Passione in Milan, at 2.45 pm, e Ambra Martone, she will read these words for her sister: «Sister, I have been so lucky to have you in my life, our bond as sisters is something wonderful that was given to us by mom and dad and that we made special. You have been the pillar of my life: sister, best friend, confidant and adviser, travel companion, partner at work, godmother of my children … You have been a gift, for me and for those who knew and loved you. Dear Giorgia, all the light you have given fills us today. We will always take you with us, but how much we will miss you ».
