The leading American dictionary Merriam-Webster has the notion ‘second gentleman‘ included in his vocabulary. The meaning of the word is “the spouse or male partner of a vice president” or otherwise “second” in command of a country or territory.

The fact that Kamala Harris is the first female vice president of the United States makes her husband Douglas Emhoff the first second gentleman. According to Merriam-Webster, the term thus meets the criteria for inclusion in the dictionary.
