Setback for Düsseldorf: 1: 2 at the bottom

Würzburg (dpa) – Fortuna Düsseldorf has had to put up with a strong damper in the promotion of the 2nd Bundesliga. Exactly one year after taking office with the Rhinelander, the team of coach Uwe Rösler lost at bottom of the table Würzburger Kickers with 1: 2 (1: 1). After captain Rouwen Hennings’ opening goal (25th minute), the self-sacrificing Franks struck back on Friday with two goals from Ridge Munsy (41st / 67th).

Düsseldorf was the stronger team and repeatedly dangerous in standards. Thomas Pledl (9./20.) Twice had the lead for the relegated Bundesliga on the foot. Hennings then did better after a Pledl corner kick and Kevin Danso’s headed assist and finished with the seventh goal of the season. Düsseldorf’s Luka Krajnc wasn’t missing much to make it 2-0 (41st) when he hit the crossbar.

As if out of nowhere, the Würzburg team, where coach Bernhard Trares was back on the line after being suspended from the red, equalized. In the starting line-up debut, newcomer Martin Hasek served teammates Munsy and he made it 1-1. Munsy struck for the second time after a counterattack in a tough game in difficult space conditions. For Düsseldorf, which subsided after the break, it was the first defeat in nine games.
