JOHNSTON COUNTY, North Carolina.- A 23-year-old died in a North Carolina jail. His mother reports alleged medical negligence.

“I am not going to stop until justice is served. I ask that the full weight of the law fall on them, “said María Cruz, mother of Eric Cruz, who died on January 19 in the Johnston County Jail.
–
María alleges that officers allegedly committed negligence by not giving medications or dialysis that his son required. Eric was also reportedly beaten by law enforcement officers, he stressed.
–
“He told me that the policemen started beating him when they arrested him. My head hurts a lot and I have a lot of blows on my face, he told me, ”he confessed.
–
Johnston County authorities say the case remains under investigation. It has been 10 days since Eric’s death and the Hispanic mother has yet to see her son’s body.
–
“Mr. Cruz had health conditions before entering prison, he needed to receive his dialysis, so we did the paperwork for him to go. He had to be there for a few periods of time and then disconnect himself. They sent us a letter saying not to send it because of his behavior, “Benji G., Chief Officer of the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, told News 40.
The agent added that the nurses, who do not work directly with them, they were in the process of finding a dialysis site, “But there was no negligence on our part,” he added.
