Florida reports highest rate of coronavirus positives so far this year – Telemundo Miami (51)

Coronavirus cases in Florida reached 1,698,570 on Friday after 10,976 new positives and 219 additional deaths of residents in the state were reported, according to the Department of Health.

In total, the results of 91,539 tests were reported with a positivity rate of 14.46 percent, the highest so far this year.

In the last seven days, 70,967 new cases have been reported: 10,976 on Friday, 11,423 on Thursday, 8,408 on Wednesday, 9,594 on Tuesday, 8,720 on Monday, 9,535 on Sunday, and 12,311 on Saturday. The average number of positives to COVID-19 in the last week is 10,138 per day.

Miami-Dade has so far had 368,137 positives and Broward 170,709. The two counties are the ones with the highest number of infected people in the state, where 26,254 residents have already died from COVID-19. Another 431 nonresidents in the state have died in Florida, for a grand total of 26,685.

In Miami-Dade, 4,817 people have died from COVID-19 and in Broward 2,071.

Additionally, Palm Beach County has had 105,540 positive cases, while Monroe has 5,288. A total of 71,864 people have been hospitalized since the start of the pandemic.

In the center of the state, Orange County has 101,955 cases and Hillsborough has 99,421 confirmed COVID-19 cases. In the Southwest, Lee County has 52,073 positives and Collier County 27,543.
