Our daily use of the smartphone is hardly imaginable without messenger. Often free of charge, all contacts can be provided with text, picture and video messages as desired.
But it is also clear that this exchange is not always data-friendly. Accordingly, WhatsApp and Co. are of course only superficially free. In reality, as is so often the case, we pay with our data and our attention.
These are the 6 most popular messengers in Germany
In particular, the discussion about the new data protection regulations on WhatsApp has ensured that there is movement in the German messenger market. Whether the WhatsApp alternatives really offer more security depends on the individual case. Nevertheless, more awareness when dealing with data is generally good.
The exciting question now is: do many people really leave WhatsApp or is most of it just hot air? That has Statista in January 2021 in a representative survey of 1,518 Messenger users. We present the results to you in the weekly ranking.
