Led by the Burgos Association of Pig Livestock Producers (ABUGAPOR), and promoted by the Confederation of Business Associations of Burgos (FAE), the Agropecuaria de Caleruega SL has presented, through the Technical Office of European Funds of FAE the first project of this organization to qualify for the reconstruction funds of the European Union, a project designed under the idea of project-country, exportable to any point of the national territory.
Under the title ‘Transformation of the pig sector as an integrated, sustainable, digital model, with zero emissions and animal welfare’, the ultimate objective of the project, according to the memory of the Expression of Interest that has been registered with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MINCOTUR), is to achieve a radical change in pig production under a zero emissions model disruptor, capturing, in particular, ammonia and methane that to this day are discharged into the atmosphere and underground. The project also includes the use of slurry through anaerobic digesters in which it will be transformed into green energy and compost. This ecological energy will be used, among other purposes, for pig production, the transport of feed and animals and for irrigation. ANDhe fertilizer will be applied, through underground pipes, to the fertilization of nearby plots. All through a new pioneering model in Spain of reindustrialization, job creation in rural areas, energy-economic efficiency and circular economy, thus improving the economy, the environment and animal welfare.
The project has the participation of companies from the sector in the Valencian Community, such as Desinope 323, SL, from Elche; in Castilla y León, such as the Valladolid Agropecuaria de Centro Agrocesa, SA (Vall Companys Group); and in Catalonia, as Mecaniques Segales SL, in Barcelona. Public bodies such as ITACYL and the University of Valladolid also participate.
In addition, they have shown their Support for the project was the Burgos City Council, the Aranda de Duero City Council, the Burgos Provincial Council, the latter through Sodebur, as well as CEOE Castilla y León, FEPORCYL (Federation of Pig Producers of Castilla y León), CEOE Ávila, the Segovian Business Federation (FES) and the firm Calidad Pascual.
