Economy: “Certificates are not always decisive”
At the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) East Westphalia (OWL) In Bielefeld it is said that almost 1,000 trainee positions in their area are not yet filled. A certificate is required for the application, but it only plays one role among many. According to the IHK OWL, the semi-annual report is usually not decisive for the appointment.
Also from the IHK Mittleres Ruhrgebiet says that certificates are only one part of a good application. It also depends on the industry. For some companies, a creative cover letter is more important than good grades. Other companies bet on good performance in a particular subject such as math. But: “Companies also know that it is a special school year“, says Kerstin Groß from the IHK Middle Ruhr Area.
More important information is on the certificate than the grades
Bonamic GmbH with vacant apprenticeship positions in Bochum lets you know: the personal impression in the job interview can iron out bad grades. And at the mechanical engineering company Entex Rust & Mitschke in Bochum, it is said that there is no point in looking narrowly at the notes. Nevertheless, in addition to the grades, the certificate also gives other important information that is important for the application. So look closely at unexcused absenteeism.
