Xcaret, with a 50% influx in its parks

Cancun, QRoo.- The three parks of Xcaret Group that have been reopened since the economic reactivation of Quintanan Roo, as well as the Mexico hotel, have implemented the application of rapid tests for the detection of Covid among tourists.

Charles Constandse, director of the group, reported that they maintain an influx of visitors 50% of what traditionally captured at this time of year, and hope to be able to maintain this rate, despite the new challenge posed by the massive application of tests.

“We are not complaining, although we have not yet reached the point of equilibrium, but we are doing well and we hope that they will continue if things continue as they have been and if there is no drastic change in how the pandemic is being managed, especially in the United States” , explained the businessman.

The group has managed to keep around 7,000 employees on the payroll, representing more than 90% of the workforce they had prior to the start of the pandemic, which they hope to be able to maintain during 2021 with the operation of three of its eight parks: Xplore, Xel-Ha Y Xcaret.

In previous statements, Madrazo Constandse had advanced that derived from the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Grupo Xcaret stopped its expansion plan which included the opening of its Xibalbá cenote park in Yucatán and the construction of its boutique hotel Casa de la Playa.

“Unfortunately due to this situation that caused us tremendous damage, with three and a half months of closure, the issue of the Xibalbá park, which is a dream, our first park in Yucatan is on standby,” said the businessman.

The planned investment for both projects was 115 million dollars, 30 million for Xibalbá and 85 for the boutique hotel.

The new park also includes the acquisition of old houses in Valladolid, Yucatán, where two hotels with 30 rooms each will be built, whose main characteristic will be exclusivity, explained engineer Miguel Quintana Pali, president of Grupo Xcaret.

The adaptation of the accommodation centers, as well as the integration of a circuit of 8 cenotes, would take at least two years, so the expectation of the company was to inaugurate this new project in 2020, but due to the pandemic, everything was delayed .
