over 100 million new users joined Telegram in January looking for more privacy and freedom. But what about the messages and reminders that linger in older apps?
Starting today, everyone can have their chat history (including videos and documents) from apps like WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk bring to Telegram. This works for both private chats and groups:
To have a chat from WhatsApp for iOS to move, open the area Contact info or Group info on WhatsApp, tap Export chat and choose Telegram in the share menu.
At Android, open a WhatsApp chat, tap ⋮> Export chat and then choose Telegram in the share menu:
WhatsApp for iOS also allows you to export chats directly from the chat list. Swipe left on a chat, then ‘…’> Export chat.
Move chats and save space
Best of all, news and media that you move don’t take up any extra space. Older apps force you to save all data on your device. Telegram takes up practically no space while you have access to all of your messages, photos and videos whenever you need them.
You can Free up storage space and the cache size under Settings> Data and storage> Storage usage to adjust.
Be in control of your digital footprint
Your data is your business, which is why Telegram users can not only export their chats, but also delete messages that they sent send and receive and even on both sides without leaving a trace.
There is even more control in the latest version: Secret chats, groups (that you created) and Call history can be deleted on all pages at any time.
Telegram’s servers do not store any information about deleted chats and call logs, so the data will disappear completely and forever.
Improved voice chats
Now you can on top of the Call log page see which of your groups have active voice chats.
During a voice chat, the Adjust the volume of the individual participants. Adjustments made by group admins apply to all listeners.
Improved audio player
If you tap the Performers in the music player, a list of all songs by the same artist appears all of your chats. Are you holding that Forward or back button is pressed in the player fast forward or rewind.
We also have a nice one Transition effect added. Heard when you pause and then resume music.
Greeting stickers
If you have contacts who recently joined Telegram, it can be a nice touch to share them with one of the many unique features to be welcomed by Telegram. A Greeting stickers will be suggested to you in new chats.
New animations on Android
A new update also means sleek new animations. See if you can catch them all: While downloading files, playing music and while the chat list is loading after logging in.
Report fake channels
All Telegram apps allow you to report spam and other types of illegal content, including calls for violence and child abuse. Now you can too fake channels and groups reporting themselves posing as famous people or organizations. To do this, open their profile page and tap ‘…’> Report> Fake Accountto let us know that something is wrong with it. Our moderators will take a look.
Improved accessibility
