While nightclubs are living dark hours, including the already announced closure of 430 establishments or 30% of clubs in France, some inveterate revelers brave the ban to party illegally. In Strasbourg, two people were arrested after organizing an illegal party in a clandestine nightclub on January 17. In fact, around thirty people were gathered in industrial premises of nearly 100 m2 in the Plaine des Bouchers district. Inside: a sound system, a lighting system, small lounges and many bottles of alcohol.
According to information from France Bleu, the police intervened around 3 a.m. after being alerted for nighttime noise. A few days after the fact, two people suspected of being at the origin of this clandestine party were arrested and the prefecture lodged a complaint for endangering the life of others by clearly deliberate violation of an obligation of safety and prudence.

It only took a few days for the investigators to identify and question the organizers of a clandestine party which gathered, despite the curfew, several dozen people on January 17 in #Strasbourg (more info to come) pic.twitter.com/P5CyHnpqEM– National Police 67 (@ PoliceNat67) January 26, 2021
According to a police statement, entry to the party was free but bottles of alcohol were sold there for up to 150 euros. In addition to tens of liters of alcohol, nearly 237 liters of non-alcoholic drinks were seized during the search of the premises. These drinks will then be given “to a charity which helps the youth of Strasbourg”, as explained by the local authorities.
