NFL: David Culley to be Texans’ new head coach

Wednesday, Jan 27, 2021. 10:33 PM

The Houston Texans have found their new head coach.

According to what has learned ESPN and confirmed the Houston Chronicle in the evening Wednesday, the texan formation offers the post to the assistant at the Baltimore Ravens, David Culley.

The 65-year-old Culley has spent the last two seasons with the Ravens and a 27th as a coach in the Goodell Tour. In addition to his role as an assistant, he took care of the aerial game of the team and the receivers.

The Ravens, however, finished last in the NFL in aerial play last season.

Due to the Texans hiring from Culley, the Ravens will get two third-round compensatory picks (2021 and 2022). The move comes on the heels of an NFL decision to encourage the hiring of certain minorities in key positions like head coach and general managers.

Culley has never been an offensive coordinator in the NFL. He was also an assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013-2016 and spent campaigns with the Buffalo Bills as a quarterback coach.

The Texans fired Bill O’Brien from head coach and general manager positions in October.
