Fulda (pf) – After three bankruptcies in a row, the TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell wants to knock over the buck in the table tennis Bundesliga on Sunday – just stupid that at 3 p.m., of all things, record champions and front runners Borussia Düsseldorf comes to the Wilmingtonhalle and seems almost invincible .

Timo Boll’s team is currently rushing from victory to victory: 14 successes in the current season are only compared to one defeat. It was against Saarbrücken at the end of November. Otherwise, the Dusseldorf plow through the Bundesliga, there was a smooth 3-0 in the first leg against Maberzell, are unchallenged at the top with eight points ahead of Neu-Ulm and have the next championship title firmly in view – because the last is almost three Years ago.
Maberzell’s head coach Qing Yu Meng, who sees an increase at Borussia compared to last year, has to acknowledge this. So the timing of the duel on Sunday is of course bad, especially since Meng found out “that they will come with the first three”. So Timo Boll will also serve in Fulda, which doesn’t make things any easier. “We want to play nice table tennis and try to create a surprise. We did that in Düsseldorf two years ago, it might work again, ”says Meng, but estimates the realistic chance at around ten percent.
At the TTC, Quadri Aruna recently lost his two singles against Bad Königshofen, which may have diminished his self-confidence a bit, while Ruwen Filus was able to reward himself with a point – but Maberzell did not do anything either. In the table, the third from last place seems to have been chosen for a long time anyway, down eight points buffer, up six.
And the good news for the Düsseldorf team is not ending at the moment: During the week, after Kristian Karlsson’s extension, the second Swede Anton Källberg has signed with the record champions for another year. Källberg leads the Bundesliga with a phenomenal 17: 1 record, but Boll (8: 1) and Karlsson (10: 3) are also strong this season, followed by substitute Ricardo Walther, who replaced Timo Boll in the first leg acted against the TTC. “Källberg plays incredibly well and Timo, as always, that will be very difficult”, Meng is sure, who at least wishes to get more points than last.
