In contrast, many of the particularly endangered rescue service workers have not yet received a vaccination.
Sometimes there was no corona vaccine left for Cologne rescue workers
If thawed vaccination doses are left over from the vaccination campaigns in retirement homes, these should be injected to the nursing staff, doctors and emergency services.
According to the German Fire Brigade Union, bosses of fire stations and administrative employees lined up in the retirement homes. In several cases, therefore, there was no vaccine left for rescue workers.
“If the executives are vaccinated first, you find it incomprehensible, of course, because they don’t work as close to the patient as their colleagues on site,” says Andreas Jedamzik from the German Fire Brigade Union.
City of Cologne confirms vaccination of executives and administrative officials
The city of Cologne confirms in a written statement that executives and administrative officials of the fire brigade were vaccinated in Cologne.
However, these employees only received a vaccination dose because the emergency services were not available for a vaccination.
Rescue workers wonder about the reason
Rescue workers are surprised by this statement. Because most of them wanted to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
In addition, several hundred rescue workers are constantly on duty in Cologne. They are all trained to be anywhere in the city within a few minutes.
To them, it is a mystery why administrative employees can get to the leftover vaccine doses faster than the crew of an ambulance.
